Gold Cup 2018: Rivers United test good for us- Remo Stars coach Fatai Osho

Remo Stars Football Club technical adviser, Fatai Osho, Says the Gold Cup Tourney MatchDay3 encounter against NPFL side Rivers United on Saturday (today) will be a tough test for his boys.

The Nigeria National League side started their campaign at the pre-season tournament with with a 2-0 win over Ekiti based Nationwide League One side Phoenix ACF at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure on Friday.

However Fatai Osho believes the clash with the NPFL giants will prepare his side for the upcoming NNL super eight playoff.

“We know the quality Rivers United posses, playing against them on Saturday will be a big test for my players.

“It will also give us an ideal of what to expect when we meet them in the coming season and prepare us for the NNL Super8 Play-offs.”

The gaffer lauds the performance of his young team in the win against Phoenix but warned they most turn their dominance to goals.

“Wining our first game here in Akure is good omen for us compared to the Ilorin edition.

“I started a team that played the season in the Nigeria National League (NNL) unlike in the last edition which was used as dress rehearsal for the new players that were invited.”

“Despite dominating the game against Phoenix, we should have scored more goals but we had two.

“The positive with this platform, Gold Cup Tourney, it’s a learning curve for teams to know their strengths and weaknesses.

“For me, I give kudos to my players for creating much chances, it shows we’re getting better.

“We will go back and have a pep talk with the players as we prepare ahead of our tie against Rivers United”, He concluded.
