Guardiola Rules Aguero, Stones Out; Wary Of “Fantastic” Spurs

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has ruled Sergio Aguero out of the trip to Wembley ahead of their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

City will hope to halt a run of three straight defeats as they look to wrap up the league title.

Going into the game against Spurs, City lost both UEFA Champions League ties against Liverpool and also suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Manchester United in the league.

Aguero featured in City’s last two games against United and Liverpool, coming as a second half substitute.

Looking ahead to the weekend game against Spurs, Guardiola also revealed the latest injury updates on John Stones and summer signing Benjamin Mendy.

“Sergio Aguero is injured, Benjamin Mendy is out, John Stones is not ready and Fernandinho is suspended,”  Guardiola said in his press conference on Friday.

He admitted that Sunday’s game against Spurs would be another difficult game for his side.

He said: “Tottenham is a fantastic team, they have great pressure. They have been playing great with a lot of success in the last two, three season and are in the semi-final of the FA Cup this season. It is going to be a difficult game for us.

“Now we have in front of us the most important title of the season by far and we need five points in six games. The first test is tomorrow and we will try hard.”
