Three persons, including an elderly man, Pa Ojeogwu, were yesterday taken away by suspected kidnappers in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. Others kidnapped are Ojeogwu’s son, Elvis, and a family friend.
Sources said the gunmen stormed the home of the victims, who were alone at the time of the operation.
“Elvis went to his village to see his father on Sunday. He was with his father and a friend when the gunmen entered and took them away. The gunmen operated so fast. They brandished weapons, threatening to kill anybody who dared resist abduction. Elvis is a popular rich man in Asaba, so we are surprised about this incident. Now the whole community is anxious, we have not received any contact from the abductors,”
the source said.
Police public relations officer in the state, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said that the police have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.
Delta State has been under siege by bandits including, killer herdsmen,armed robbers and kidnappers. Few days ago about eight persons were killed by herdsmen at Isele -Azagba,near Asaba. Five indigenes of Onicha-Ugbo were also kidnapped on their ways from a wedding at a boundary town between Edo and Delta .

There are fear and apprehension everywhere in the state.
An Environmentalist and a right activist, Mark Okolie, has called on the Delta State Commissioner of Police to rigid the security network in the state.
He said :
” The CP has stayed for over two months and he should live up to expectations and give the state the necessary protection we deserve”.
