Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler in Plateau

Gunmen on Monday kidnapped Alh. Shehu Suleiman, a Paramount Ruler of Bogghom People in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Suleiman, the Pankwal of Bogghom was abducted in his palace in Kanam at the early hours of Monday.

Confirming the incident, the Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Hon. Abbas Wokdung, said, the traditional ruler was kidnapped at about 1 am in his Palace.

He said the Council was working hard in collaboration with the state government and security agencies to secure the release of the Royal Highness.

“We are putting effort with the state government and security to ensure the release of the Royal Highness, but for now we are yet to established any contact with the kidnappers no ransom place yet”.

Senator representing Plateau Central in the National Assembly, Sen. Hezekiah Dimka in a Press Statement issued in Jos and signed by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Shehu Kanam expressed displeasure over the sad incident.

The Senator noted that Alh. Shehu Suleiman, the Pankwal Bogghom is a man of peace and someone who always advocates for peaceful coexistence in Plateau. His abduction is condemnable, given his status, age and the symbol he represents as a 2nd Class Traditional Ruler.

Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ubah Ogaba, said he has been trying to reach the Divisional Police Officer DPO of Kanam to get information on the incident.
