Harvest of suspects in Lagos as police pick 100

 

It was harvest of suspected criminals as Police pick over 100 hoodlums.

 

 

The suspects were arrested in different locations of the state .

The suspects comprise of armed robbers , arsonists , cult members etc .

Giving a breakdown on how the suspects were apprehended , Commissioner of Police Mr Edgal Imohimi who paraded some of them said , ” at about 2100hrs information was received from a credible source that some armed men were sighted at Skepter Petrol Station situated at Igbo-Elerin Bus-Stop, Ojo area of Lagos robbing fuel attendants and their customers.

On receipt of the information operatives from Ilemba Hausa Police Station and Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad ( FSARS ) Ikeja, jointly mobilised to the scene.

Unfortunately, before the team could arrive, the hoodlums who sensed danger disappeared. However, later in the night, the robbers were arrested from where they were hiding and their arms comprising; two toy guns, three knives and one axe were recovered.

It was revealed that the supervisor of the Petrol Station, Daniel Freedom and his fuel attendant, Mike Charles , were the masterminds of the robbery operation at the Filling State. The suspects confessed that they specialised in robbing Petrol Station around Igando and Ilemba Hausa axis of the State.

” ​On the same period at about 0400 hours , information was received that some robbery suspects were sighted along Surulere area , using Volkswagen buses (danfo), painted in Lagos commercial colour. The source revealed that they were robbing passengers who innocently boarded their vehicles. Based on the information, operatives of the FSARS Ikeja were drafted to the area to locate and arrest the felons.

The presence of the operatives emboldened some passengers already held hostage as they raised the alarm which attracted the operatives.

They were given a hot chase in the process, their operational Volkswagen buses with registration number APP 416 XX and SMK 367 XR were intercepted while three of the robbers were arrested and the passengers rescued.

During interrogation, the robbers confessed that they robbed unsuspecting passengers daily and on the average, they realize over N300, 000. 00 any day they went for operation.

“On November 2, information was received from a credible source that a group of boys were sighted inside a commercial bus, armed with locally made pistols and that the boys were suspected to be either armed robbers or cultist.

​The Command quickly issued a directive to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Alakara Division to locate the bus and do the needful. Operative from the formation accosted the passengers in the said commercial bus and asked them to oblige a routine Police check.

But to their amazement, the men jumped down and took to their heels. ​One of them was however arrested and a locally made pistol with six cartridges and some charms to make him invincible, were recovered from him.

During interrogation he gave his name as Waheed Ayinde. Information from a credible source revealed that some group of kidnappers had already concluded arrangement to kidnap one Ijeoma Eze-Okafor, a renowned business woman.

” ​Sequel to the information, directives was given to the FSARS Operatives to infiltrate the camp of the would be kidnappers and act along with them.

​ The suspects requested for arms, ammunition and a vehicle from the agents provocateur ( FSARS men), while the suspects, on their path sent the photographs of the target, details of her vehicle and other information to their new partners, unknown to them they were dealing with policemen.
​It took ten days for the group to plan the kidnapping of the business women. However, on the D-day, the suspects surfaced and were immediately arrested.

​During interrogation, they gave their names as Emmanuel Okemayin, Austine Anyia and Arowosola Adewale. It was revealed that two of the suspects, Austin Anya and Emmanuel Okemayin were both employed as drivers to the victim and victim’s husband respectively, while the third suspect, Arowosola Adewale collected the sum of #10,000.

from the drivers to enable him hire a native doctor that will protect them after the operation.
​The suspects said that the plan to kidnap their employer derived from her wickedness.
