Police in Enugu State has arrested a 50-year-old school headmaster, Idoko Nathaniel, for alleged sexual abuse and defilement of his pupils.
Idoko was in charge of a migrant farmers’ children’s school in Aguibeji, Enugu Ezike.
Police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement yesterday, said the suspect had on July 17, in a nearby bush at the migrant school, sexually abused and defiled four schoolchildren, aged between five and six years.

Amaraizu said that Idoko has confessed to the crime and was begging for forgiveness, blaming the Devil.
According to him, the suspect used his fingers to defile the four female pupils, which caused serious injuries on them, making them walk abnormally.
The police command’s spokesman further said that the crime was discovered when one of the victims opened up to her parents. The PPRO also said the suspect was already helping operatives of the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department in their investigation and would soon be arraigned in court.
Philomena Ngozi Christopher-Oji was born to the family of the late Michael and Cecilia Ojeogwu of Ubulu-Uku, in Aniocha South Local Government Area, Delta State. She had her primary and secondary education in Nwanoli and Ezemu Girls College, in Ubulu-Uku, before she proceeded to the Delta State University, Abraka, where she studied English and Literary Studies.
