Akwa United continued their incredible form in the Nigerian professional football league with a victory over Heartland in a MatchDay 17 game clash at the Nest of Champions, Uyo on Sunday.
The promise keepers fell behind to Chukwuemeka Obioma’s goal in the 15th minute but did enough to turn the tie around and avoid a back to back home loss in the league.
Effiong Ndifreke restored the parity in the 19th minute with an unstoppable 25-yard strike, before Akarandut Orok added the second with a header in the 38th minute.
Effiong Ndifreke, however, killed any hope of Heartland’s when he headed home a cross beyond Heartland goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa early in the second half of the game.
Akwa United moved to 6th on the log, while Heartland, however, drops two places to 11th after their first loss in four outings.
