How late Bradley Lowery changed Jermain Defoe will inspire you

Jermain Defoe was awarded the OBE from the Queen for his charity work, Defoe’s foundation sets out to relieve the needs of young people, in particular, those who are homeless, poor or abused or suffering life-threatening illness. Jermaine Defoe said “The proudest moment of my life to be awarded an OBE.

 

I‘m blessed to have received the honour, but it isn’t for me or about me. It’s for Bradley and those he loved. I’d trade it all for him to be back in our lives, forget the goals and awards, it’s the memories I’ll cherish…” Late Bradley passed in July 2017 at 6.

 

The six-year-old was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of just 18 months.

 

He beat the disease once but after some time in remission, it came back in July 2016.

 

The Bournemouth striker formed a special bond with Bradley during his time at Sunderland, with Defoe going well out of his way to spend time with him. He walked out with him for an England friendly at Wembley, visited Bradley in the hospital as he underwent treatment and also attended his birthday party.

 

The youngster struck up a friendship with the England striker, who has recently moved to AFC Bournemouth.

 

Bradley Lowery, from Blackhall Colliery, near Hartlepool, battled cancer most of his young life before he lost his fight on July 7, 2017.
