It has been hell for the people of Ogun and Lagos States as hoodlums, especially armed robbers went on rampage raiding residents.
Saturday raiding had the hoodlums took over the Abule Egba area of Lagos state and Matogun area of Ogun state.
The Ogun state robbery forced the State Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebirison, to personally led an operation that dislodged the robbers.
As at 12am, the robbers numbering over 50 had started their raiding at the Matogun area and CP Ebirison was said to have mobilised his men from the Ajuwon and other police divisions and posts within the area.

When Cornerstonenews made a distress call to Ebirison at about 1 am, he said:
” We are on top of the situation. People were just raising false alarms. I have dispatched my men to the community, but nothing is happening. The youths are making a bonfire, but that does not mean that we have to abandon them. I am still on patrol and my men are on the ground. We are keeping a watch “.
However, residents who narrated their ordeals said the hoodlums engaged on house to house raiding; carting away food items, money, and other personal effects.
In another development, hoodlums numbering over 70 took over the streets, especially the Abule Egba, and adjoining streets in Lagos.
A Newspaper company suffered an attack by robbers at the Abule Egba area.
The staff who were attacked by the hoodlums who took over the road said they were lucky that they were not injured by the suspected robbers .
A staff , Monica ,said:
” Our staff bus was surrounded by the hoodlums who barricaded by the road. They threatened to burn our bus if we did not give them money. We quickly contributed some money and handed over to them. They told us that there was hunger in the land. Though they were armed with cudgels, they did not attack us with them; they only used it to threaten us. I fear for the country because if the lockdown is extended, we are going to be in serious crisis. There is really devastating hunger as we have many jobless youths and those who work hand to mouth on a daily basis “.
Meanwhile, the Lagos state police public relations officer, DSP Bala Elkana, said the police in Lagos foiled robbery attempts in communities under Ogun State and deployed Special Strike Force on Social Miscreants and tactical teams to different parts of Lagos State to tackle the menace of social miscreants
He said that 32 suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery attempts.

” Twenty suspects were arrested on Friday within Ilaje and Ajah communities for gang violence. Their mission on the street is mainly to steal and loot under the guise of supremacy battle. Nine suspects were arrested along with Abule Egba and Ifako Ijaiye areas after operatives of Lagos State Command successfully foiled a robbery attempt on residents in communities under Ogun State, neighboring Lagos State.
” Investigation is ongoing, the suspects will soon be charged to Court.
