Nigerian table tennis legend, Olufunmi Oshonaike has spoken about her longevity in representing Nigeria over 32 years in the game of table tennis.
Oshonaike, who made history as the first woman in Africa to qualify for the Tokyo olympics which was earlier meant to hold in 2020.
The Agbowa-Ikosi born athlete made her first Olympics appearance in the Atlanta 1996 at the age of 21 and she has gone ahead to appear at every Olympic game ever since.
Speaking to Cornerstonenewsng.comduo of Tony Bekederemo and Adeyinka Oyedele on her 46th birthday, Oshonaike revealed that she has been representing Nigeria competitively since she was age 14.
’I have been playing tennis for Nigeria since I was 14, that’s 32 years ago’, She said.
’For 32 years, I have been in active service. O think I am qualified for pension,’ She said jokingly.
Oshonaike turns 46 today.
