I have been working for Nasarawa United without a contract – Nikyu

Coach Bala Nikyu has dismissed the reports making round in the media that he has resigned from his position as the head coach of Nasarawa United.

Nasarawa United are yet to win a league game in the five weeks old 2019/2020 Nigeria professional football league, a situation which has left Nikyu open for big pressure.

Many fans of the Club also called for his exit from the Lafia based club and it wasn’t a shock when his resignation rumors broke in the media on Monday.

The embattled gaffer however denied that he has trow in the towel, but revealed that he only step aside in order to finalise his contract situation with the Club.

Nikyu added that he has no binding contract and that his role has not been defined despite being with the club since last year and even before the inauguration of the new management.

“I have not resigned as the head coach of Nasarawa United but I have only stepped aside for the right thing to be done regarding my contract,” Nikyu said.

“If I resigned as coach it means there is a binding agreement between me and the management of the club but till I speak with you, I don’t have any written agreement and I am not comfortable with it.

“I have spoken to the management of the club severally on it on the need to make my contract formal but nothing has been done about it. I have decided to take this step for them to know that I am serious about it.

“It is unheard of that a coach of my calibre is working without a signed contract. There must be something that is binding on both of us as our responsibilities. That has not been done and it is difficult to continue working under such a condition.” He concluded.
