Awarded a penalty when Dominic Solanke was fouled in the back by Tosin Adarabioyo, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane rolled his spot-kick to the left as Joe Hart dived in the opposite direction, providing a dramatic close to the match between the Premier League rivals.
The victory extended Pep Guardiola’s winless streak against Liverpool to four games, though his side lacked the vast majority of his first team who are still recovering from the World Cup.
