Ighalo Shifts Focus To Changchun Yatai, Vows Super Eagles Will Improve

By Johnny Edward:

Changchun Yatai striker Odion Ighalo is looking forward to this weekend’s Chinese Super League clash against Guangzhou R&F after featuring for the Super Eagles during the international break, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Ighalo fired blanks in the two Nigeria friendlies against Poland and Serbia but remains confident that the Super Eagles will be ready for the tough task ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The former Watford striker started the encounter against Poland which the Super Eagles won 1-0 courtesy of a Victor Moses penalty, but came on as a half-time substitute against Serbia which Nigeria lost 2-0.

“The friendlies were good for the team and we know where we are now and we will continue to work hard to be better ahead of the World Cup,” Ighalo told CSN.

“The focus is now to my club (Changchun Yatai) where I will maintain my form ahead of the World Cup.”

Ighalo has scored four goals in 15 international apprearances for the Super Eagles.
