Iheanacho hoping to win the Carabao Cup with Leicester City

As Leicester City prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of a competition that may not make many bat an eyelid, Kelechi Iheanacho is feeling inspired enough to win it.

The league cup triumph with Manchester City in 2016 brought the Nigerian his first – and only – piece of silverware in England, a memory that he still holds very close to his heart.

However, he would now like to add to his cabinets of trophies and memories by emulating his feat with the Citizens at Leicester.

With the Premier League in mind as well, Claude Puel will ring the changes in all likelihood. While that can be frustrating for some players, especially when they are beginning to find some form.

Iheanacho is happy to see his teammates given their chance on the pitch because “switching players” and “changing positions is good sometimes”.

The second round tie against Fleetwood Town was all too easy for Leicester, as Christian Fuchs, Vicente Iborra, Iheanacho and Rachid Ghezzal got on the scoresheet to help their side to a dominant 4-0 win – but Wolves are going to be a different prospect altogether.

Since their 2-0 defeat to Leicester, a game that was in no way an easy one for Puel’s side, they are unbeaten in five games, with wins against Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and West Ham United, and draws against both the Manchester clubs – which is quite something.

No surprises that Iheanacho realizes how difficult it could be again.
