Ilechukwu laments lack of experience attackers after MFM loss

MFM FC head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu said the lack of experience attackers in his team contributed to their 2-0 loss to Enyimba on Sunday in Aba.

Nelson Ogbonnaya and Abdulrahman Bashir both scored to help Enyimba secure the full points which left the Lagos-based teamwithout a point after match day one of the of the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

However with the departure of Sikiru Olatunbosun and Chukwuka Onuwa, MFM began the new season with young attackers who struggled to cope with pressure of the game of high magnitude.

While speaking after the game, Ilechukwu said he’s not disappointed with the result.

“ I am not disappointed. I am not because we played a better side honestly speaking. Enyimba is a big team we just tried if we can and that’s football.”

The gaffer lamented the lack of experience forward in his side for the game and insists they improve their performance in front of goal.

“I think we really need serious work in converting chances which has been a problem even in our pre-season games.

“You know when you have a lot of young players in the attack, I expect such thing and that was why we tried to get one or two experienced players but we couldn’t,” he concluded.

MFM FC will welcome Kwara United who played 1-1 with Sunshine Stars of Akure to Agege stadium in Matchday 2 of the NPFL on Wednesday.
