The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the result of the presidential election for Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.
Ika North-East is the local government area of the vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who is the incumbent governor of the state.
The result was rejected following discrepancies in figures as read out by the Electoral Officer for the local government, Dr. James Olisa.
Although, from the figures released, PDP won the locality, the total figures did not tally.
As a result, the state Collation Officer for the presidential election, Prof. Owuneri Abraham Georgewill said the result would not be accepted until the figures were reconciled.
According to results as read out by Dr. Olisa PDP scored 16696; LP – 8908; APC – 1902.
