Super Falcons Coach Thomas Dennerby has revealed that Desire Oparanozie suffered injury in the build up to the AWCON finalagainst the Bayana Bayana at Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Oparanozie alongside the duo of Asisat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega started all Super Falcons games enroute to the final and it was surprise decision to see the Guingamp forward was dropped from to the bench for the final.

However , while answering questions from media, Dennerby said the decision to leave the attacker out of the team was due to fitness problem and not tactical issue.

“Oparanozie , I think everybody saw her in the semi-final , she has a small injury ( hamstring) , but she was training with team, until after last training before the final when she said no, I probably can’t playand we have to change our plan because of that.”

Oparanozie was replaced by Robo FC Captain Rasheedat Ajibade in the starting line up as the Falcons clinched her 9th AWCON title in the epic final.
