It’s Over! Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori get England National team call up

In-form Nigeria-born Chelsea stars, Tammy Abraham and Olufikayo Tomori have been rewarded for their fine Chelsea form with call-ups to England’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions side take on the Czech Republic away on October 11 before travelling to Bulgaria just three days later.

Tomori and Abraham have slotted in seamlessly into Frank Lampard’s starting line-up this season, with the latter having already scored eight goals in all competitions.

The battle with Nigeria now seems to be over, although, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has already ruled out a chance of having the Chelsea stars in his squad saying they are not in his plans.

In an earlier interview with brila.net, Rohr admits that both players interest him, but revealed they aren’t in his plans for the future.

“They are both interesting players, but we have made our immediate plans without Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori,”.

“They are not interested in discussing their international options at the moment and we need to respect that.”

ENGLAND FULL SQUAD

Goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell, Joe Gomez, Michael Keane, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings, Danny Rose, Fikayo Tomori, Kieran Trippier

Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Fabian Delph, Jordan Henderson, James Maddison, Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Harry Winks

Forwards: Tammy Abraham, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling, Callum Wilson.

For Tomori, it’s a first-ever senior call-up having previously been capped at Under 19, 20 and 21 levels.

Meanwhile, Abraham returns to the Three Lions squad for the first time since November 2017, when he featured in two matches against Germany and Brazil at Wembley.
