Iwobi Benched, Aubameyang Bags Brace As Arsenal Ease Past Stoke

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi was an unused substitute for Arsenal who defeated Stoke City 3-0 in their Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a second half brace and substitute Alexander Lacazette added the third goal for the Gunners from the spot.

The win was Arsenal’s 15th league of the season and the Gunners remain sixth in the table despite the victory.

Arsenal enjoyed more possession of the ball in this first half but created very little with it.

Xherdan Shaqiri came close to scoring the opener for Stoke City in the 23rd minute when his shot in shaved the upright.

Stoke City defended well and gave Arsenal little time and space to create any scoring chances.

Aaron Ramsey also came close with a long from the edge of the box.

In the second half, Stoke remained resolute in their defending and were only exposed on few occasions on the counter-attack.

Shaqiri’s corner in the 70th minute rebounded against the far post.
Arsenal also came close with Aubameyang but his chip was denied by Jack Butland.

Aubameyang later redeemed himself, converting a penalty in the 75th minute after Mesut Ozil was fouled in the box by Bruno Martins Indi.

The Gabonese international bagged his brace with a half volley before Lacazette made it 3-0 from the spot after he was fouled in the box.
