Iwobi Outperforms £350k per-week Ozil in 1-0 defeat to Everton

Alex Iwobi’s impact off the bench for Arsenal in the 1-0 defeat on the road to Everton was instant, it was so good in fact it was fine tactical decision to have him replace Mesut Ozil; he could even be the end of the German at the club.

Ozil now seems the dead weight, who refuses to put in the shift when the chips are down and Iwobi the valiant knight who will charge-in to do damage control.

The young Nigerian attacker; on a £30k weekly wage, carved the resolute Everton defense open and caused them a lot of problems the few times Unai Emery’s men managed to charge forward, in the 16 minutes he played.

On the other hand though, Ozil failed to create a chance, produce a shot, win a foul or complete a take-on during his time on the pitch against Everton, per Squawka [Twitter].

To buttress the point of their impact, whoscored.com rated Ozil’s 74 minutes 5.7 overall, poor; compared to Iwobi’s 6.5, only bettered by Aaron Ramsey of all the subs on the day.

Though the speculations over the former German international’s future have simmered down, it might not be long before the calls are chiming again around the Emirates Stadium; and Iwobi could be the heir apparent, especially now with Ramsey heading to Juventus.

Iwobi, himself has assumed his new role as one of the team’s creative players with some comfort, perpetually giving improved performances.

Surely, the 22 year-old may not be to far from becoming Emery’s first choice and go to-guy in the team.
