Iwobi stars as Everton and Liverpool share the spoils at Goodison Park

Nigerian international Alex Iwobi was on parade for Everton as they held league leaders Liverpool to a goalless draw in a premier league clash on Sunday.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti made three changes from their last game, with Alex Iwobi coming back into the line up alongside captain Seamus Coleman and 19-year-old forward Anthony Gordon.

Alex Iwobi was lively in the game and contributed immensely as Everton out-thought Liverpool, but were unlucky not to secure a vital derby win over Jurgen Klopp’s men at the Goodison Park.

Despite Liverpool’s dominance, Everton had the best opportunities to nick the game with Richarlison, Dominic Calvert Lewin was inches away from breaking the deadlock.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star, Iwobi was later replaced by Brazilian forward Bernard with two minutes left to play.

Since arriving at the club last summer, Iwobi has been in and out of the Everton squad, but he has been able to make 19 league appearances this season and scoring once in the process.

The draw means that Everton is the only Premier League side to remain unbeaten on home soil in 2020 across all competitions.

They are currently on 38 points and 12th position on the table.
