Jack Grealish fulfills boyhood dream with Aston Villa wearing wornout boots

Footballers love to look their best on game day, especially in a major game like a play-off final but that wasn’t the case for Aston Villa’s captain, Jack Grealish who wore worn out boots for luck.

Jack Grealish whose biggest dream was to lead his boyhood club Aston Villa back to the Premier League after three seasons away, got his wish after goals from Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn helped secure a 2-1 win over Derby in the £170million Championship play-off final.

Grealish joined Aston Villa at the age of six, and made his debut for the club in May 2014, following a loan at Notts County.

But the Aston Villa captain who drew attention to his tattered footwear explained saying ‘Well I came back from injury and they were brand new, and then I got a few goals, a few assists, I thought these were my lucky boots so I’ve had to keep them.’

Grealish who almost left the club at the start of the season, with a move to a Premier League side said ‘I thought I was going, 10 months later I’m here now and I’ve led my boyhood club back to the Premier League as captain and scored against Blues twice, I’m speechless, I really am.

I can’t even explain to you how happy I am. It means the world, we all know where this club belongs.’
