The over flooding in certain parts of Lagos State is fast increasing the spate of suffering for residents as many people could no longer go out of their residence or return without adopting some difficult measures to navigate out of a very bad situation.

In some areas, local canoe services have been put in place by youths who collect some tokens to ferry people in and out of their residence.

For people of Ketu Ijanikin on Lagos – Badagry Road, particularly those living on Faloye Street, the experience in the past months since the rain began has been worse than harrowing as they are literarily holed up as “prisoners” in their own environment.

A retired senior official of government who resides in the area while speaking anonymously to journalists at the weekend said they are

“living in the dungeon”.

He described his experience as quite deplorable as they could not easily go out or come back to their residence.

Matters are made worse by the fact that even days after the rain must have subsided, the street is still heavily waterlogged as there is no drainage to control the flooding.

Residents of the area have therefore called on Lagos State Government to quickly come to their rescue as both economic and social life in the area has badly been affected.
