The national President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW) , Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin has announced that the suspension on a Union leader , Kunle Poly and others has been lifted .
Mr Yasin who read the riot act to members to be of good conducts during and after the general elections said he was very happy to announce that there is no longer faction in the union as all the suspended members have been forgiven .
According to
Yasin who said he visited Lagos to reconcile
” I want to repeat that we are not under any political party and we should know that NURTW is a professional body, like any other profession. We should not drag the name of our Union to disrepute. We should be proud members of the union and show the international community that we are not touts (Agbero). Your conduct in this election will determine if you understand that you are respected in the society or not. For those of you that are assigned to deliver electoral materials, you should deliver 24 hours before the election”.
In response, Chairman NURTW, Lagos State Chapter,
” Sir, l want to sure you that our members have learned a lot of lessons from that unfortunate incident and l can assure you with all sense of seriousness that such incident will not repeat itself
” Sir, apart from the actions taken at the national level, we at the state council level have had series of meeting and interactive session with all members from units level to the state level . So, with all we have done, l can assure you that members of the union in this state will not be involved in anything that will tarnish the image of our union
Sir, your presence today in our state council has also enabled our members present to hear from the horse’s mouth. All the principal officers from all the branches in Lagos State are here and your messages today will go a long way in their minds and they will deliver the messages to their mates at grassroots”
