Lagos police assures citizens of crime free Sallah

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi  Edgal, today,  assured residents of the state of a crime-free Sallah period.

Edgal who led  10,000 policemen in a show of force around the state, said that the command used the opportunity to warn criminals of its readiness to deal with crime and criminals in the state.

Edgal, while addressing policemen from various divisions in the state warned that the men and officers of the command should protect their areas with all the tools provided for them by the government.

His said that the show of force was also to form a partnership with members of the public and not to intimidate or put fears in them.

“The show of force is not only to display the police readiness and ability to protect, it also an assurance to the members of the public to know that we at alert and to give them the confidence that we are watching over them.W e want them to go about their normal duties without fear of intimidation by hoodlums.

“There is a need for the public to know that we are in charge, other security agencies can only aid us The police own the city and we must work in synergy with other sister agencies to make you sleep with your two eyes open.

“ In doing this job, we need to carry ourselves with integrity, check our discipline and be conscious of how we intend to hand over the force. The show of force is also to clean the battered image of the police. We need to gain the confidence of the people and let them key into this partnership by supplying intelligence and information.

According to the CP, the police show of force would be carried out in all police divisions and formations across the state on land, water and sea.

Two Rapid Response Squad (RRS) helicopters were also deployed during the show of force which began at 8 am and would end by 4 pm.
