Lagos Police bans pasting of posters, banners, billboards at odd hours

The Lagos State Police Command has outlawed the pasting of campaig posters, banners and billboards at odd hours in the metropolis.

The ban is a sequel to a series of complaints by politicians alleging indiscriminate removal/destruction of their campaign posters/billboards by unknown persons.

Police said that It was alleged that those involved in the act usually operate at odd hours, the campaign between 1 am and 4 am and that the trend if not reversed, may lead to breaking down of law and order with its attendant consequences.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti in a statement he issued said that the authorities of the Lagos Police Command after due consultation with relevant stakeholders, hereby warn that:-Pasting of campaign posters /billboards and other advertisements, should be done during the day time, between the hours of 6am and 6pm only.

“–All political parties/candidates to approach LASAA for guidelines and approvals of their adverts. LASAA officials to be accompanied by policemen when carrying out their enforcement/compliance duty.

“All political parties/candidates/agents are to be guided by the contents of this press release in order not to run foul of the law.”
