Lagos Police boss spit fire on aide’s withdrawal

Police end the reign of notorious shop looters

The Lagos State Police Commissioner,Edgal Imohimi ,has warned on officers responsible for attaching police personnels as aides to individuals to comply with the Inspector-General of police directives of withdrawing them with immediate effect.

CP Edgal ,who reiterated the IGP’s warning, said Yesterday that his command would implement the IGP’s directives to the fullest: ” It is IGP’s directive, and we must comply to the fullest .He has directed that we must withdraw aides to VIPs and from other individuals and we must do it.

” It is not as if it is a new order,no,the IGP after giving the order, met with Squadron commanders,Mobile commanders, heads of Special Protection Units and other relevant heads responsible for attaching aides to private individuals .After the meeting, they have all agreed on a certain date the grace of withdrawal will expire,so,I am warning all the units heads that are responsible, to obey the IGP’s directive and withdraw policemen attached to individuals.

” I will not joke with IGP’s directive and that is why I am calling on those concerned to do the needful to avoid serious embarrassment. I am appealing to them to obey the IGP or face my wrath.

” You kwow that the IGP also gave instructions that those with arms should return them to the Force.People are complying. I have told those, who were not in the country as at the time the directive was given ,to return them as soon as they come back.Well, anyone who fails to comply with the order will also have himself to blame.

” It is not as if we are permanently withdrawing the aides and arms,no,we are working out modalities to reassigned aides and arms to credible people. With the security challenges confronting us in the country, we have to be sure of those we give out our policemen as aides and those we give out arms to”.

He warned that the police have done a lot of enlightenment on the two issues ,saying that those who fail to comply with this directives would have his or herself to blame.
