Lionel Messi is my idol, I am obsessed with his style, reveals Success Makanjuola

Flying Eagles’ forward Success Makanjuola has revealed he is ‘obsessed’ with the way Lionel Messi plays football and the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup which gets underway in Poland next week will provide a perfect opportunity for him to excel.

The left-footer’s dribbling ability has drawn a comparison with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi because of his lion-heart determination, strength, pace and bullet drives.

Makanjuola speaking to brila.net, said: ‘He has always been my idol.

“While growing up I watched a lot of Messi’s videos and how he’s been playing and my dad loves football so much that whenever he watches the game he saw my passion too”,

“Not just for football alone but specifically for the admiration I have for Messi, so I said to my self, I will not just play like you (Messi) but to super cedes every record he had achieved in football. “says the wonder kid Makanjoula.

A member of the 2017 Nigeria U17 team that failed to qualify for the World Youth Championship, he has shown tremendous improvement the last two years and could be a poster boy of the Nigeria U-20 team with his dazzling qualities.

With Chukwueze ruling himself out of the team, coach Paul Aigbogun was intelligent enough to name the technically gifted forward in the 21 man list for the tournament in Poland.

Success has shone in the Water FC youth team overtime and could be the perfect player to continue the fine tradition of quality Nigerian front-men over the years.

Makanjoula who started his career from water FC academy of Abuja before moving to Tottenham Hotspurs academy team in London England, has been impressive with his form.

18-year-old Success was included in the final list of players that will do Nigeria proud in Poland at the U20 world cup starting from next month.

Success scored the only goal against the Salzburg team in a test game the flying eagles played at their camp in Germany which caught the eyes of coach Paul Aigbogun to fancied the young lad and included him into his final man list going into the world cup in Poland.
