A 58- year – old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 14 -year -old daughter at the Abule
The girl had reported the defilement to her mother who did not believe the story and quickly cautioned her not to tell people what she told her so that she would not bring shame to the family.
The girl told the police at the Geneder unit of the Lagos State Police Command that she had to run away from home and took refuge in her friend’s home in order to save herself from the humiliation which she was facing from her mother.
“I never believed in my wildest imagination that my mother will not believe me. Rather she warned me not to tell anybody. I ran away because my mun failed to take any action”
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohim Edgal, who paraded the suspect before news men yesterday said that the Command’s Gender Unit was still investigating the case of defilement reported by a 14-year-old girl against her father, Johnson of Charismatic Road, Abule, Berger, Ikorodu.
Edgal said that it is unimaginable that a father who is , a security man/Okada rider, could condescend so low as to defile his 14- year -old daughter.
He said that it was also painful that a woman who claimed to be a mother would not take necessary action when her daughter reported such a magnitude of crime to her. He advised parents to also take the complaints of their children seriously.
He said the survivor has been referred to Mirabel centre for medical examination.
Edgal said in the same vein the Gender Unit is also investigating another case of defilement that occurred in the same Ikorodu area of the State, reported by Mrs Obinna , on behalf of her 6-year-old daughter against one Habib Abdullahi, Age 64yrs, a carpenter of same address as the complainant.
He said during investigation, it was revealed that on December 3, at about 10 am the suspect took the survivor into his room and inserted his fingers into her private parts.
“However, her mother noticed that she was unnecessarily irritated and withdrawn so she began to ask her questions and she revealed to the mother what uncle Abdullahi had done to her. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will be charged to court
