Man attempts suicide in Lagos lagoon
A man attempted to commit suicide in the Lagos Lagoon yesterday, after he allegedly jumped into the water from the Third Mainland Bridge.
The incident attracted a crowd of passers-by who stopped on the bridge to catch a glimpse of the man while he was being rescued by some fishermen and officials of the Lagos State Waterways Authority.
The man is said to be receiving treatment in hospital. This is the latest in a series of suspected suicide attempts off the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
In June 2018, there were reports of a woman who allegedly jumped off the bridge into the water. Similarly, a medical doctor, Allwell Orji, jumped to his death in the lagoon in March 2017.
