A man from hell has set his son on fire for allegedly stealing N500 from a neighbour In Afia Nsit area of Eket, Akwa Ibom State. The suspect, Idorenyin Essien, has been arrested for the crime as his seven-year-old son was burnt to death. Akwa Ibom state police public relations officer (PPRO), Mr Odiko Mac-Don, said the suspect is in the police custody.

Mac-Don explained that the incident happened at Afia Nsit community in Eket and that policemen on patrol arrested the suspect at his residence in Afia Nsit in Eket Local Government Area of the state. A community leader in Afia Nsit, Mr Effiong Okon, who equally confirmed the incident, said Essien’s son, a minor stole N500 from a neighbour’s house to buy food as his father did not make provision when he was leaving the house.

” The suspect tied the minor with rope, poured the kerosene on him and lit a fire on him. The man watched as the fire devoured the boy. The boy was rushed to the hospital but gave him up the ghost before they would arrive at the hospital.

The community quickly alerted the police. When the police arrived, the man did not even make an attempt to escape”.

Udor John , said he was still in shock about the development:

” I wonder how the suspect was created. I can’t still believe that what we witnessed really happened in our community”.
