Man kills pregnant wife, stabs self in Lagos

The Candid Estate community, Araromi Ale in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State was thrown into pandemonium this morning ( Tuesday ), when a man, Wasiu, allegedly stabbed dead his pregnant wife, Fathia, and attempted to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach.
The woman’s throat was slit with a knife while the man’s stomach was ripped open and his intenstine was coming out .
The incident happened in the watchful eyes of their only son who is presently in trauma.
According to a neighbour, who spoke on the condition of ananymity,Wasiu ,who was struggling with death, called his relatives, wife’s relatives, and his Landlady on phone, telling them that his wife was dying,but didn’t tell them what really happened.
When the Landlady discovered that Wasiu’s house door was locked behind,she quickly contacted the Community Development Chairman, who immediately sent a distress call to Morogbo Divisional Police Officer(DPO),who sent his men to the crime scene. When the police arrived the scene, they forcefully opened the door and saw the lady half naked in the pool of her own blood . They also met Wasiu writhing in serious pains on the floor,while his intenstine was gushing out of his stomach.
A senior Police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said ,” we immediately took the couple to Badagry General Hospital,where the wife Fathia, was confirmed dead on arrival, while her husband was taken to the emergency unit of the hospital where he is recuperating under close police watch.
” We can’t really conclude what transpired between the two. What we did was to rush the husband and wife to the hospital. There was signs of violence. The woman’s throat was cut, while her husband had severe cut in his stomach. We can’t really say what happened. Whether the man killed his wife and stabbed himself, we can’t conclude now . There child is a minor and in trauma. When the man is a little bit stable, we will get the truth. We will also speak with their child”.
