An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ado-Ekiti has ordered that 40-year-old Ajibola Odebo be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Center, Ado-Ekiti.
In her ruling, Magistrate Dolapo Fasuba frowned at incessant and recent increment in offence of rape and sexual assault in our society. Fasuba called on all stakeholders in the administration of criminal justice not to relent in their efforts in protecting girl’s child right and nipping offence of rape in the bud.
According to the police prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, the offence was committed in Ado-Ekiti when the accused raped a 12-year-old girl.
The case is adjourned to March 18 for the mention, pending the issuance of legal advice from the DPP’s office.
