Confusion trails alleged killing of youth in Delta

Tragedy struck Thursday night at Okpuneze Uruagu in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State when a man Emeka Ezimadu allegedly ran amok killing his two children and his mother, 85 .

The suspect, also gathered inflicted matchete cuts on his three other kids who are still battling for survival in a hospital.

Ezimadu was alleged to have attacked his family with matchete while they were asleep after which he took to his heels.

Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer , Mr Haruna Mohammed, said the Suspect has been arrested.

Mohammed said: “On Thursday at about 11:55pm, police operatives attached to Nnewi Division arrested Emeka Ezimadu,47, of Okpuneze Uruagu in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“The suspect allegedly ran amok in a circumstance yet to be ascertained; attacked and killed two of his biological children, namely Ifechukwu Ezimadu,9, Mmeso Ezimadu, two years and his own mother one Agnes Ezimadu, 85, of same address allegedly with a cutlass while they were sleeping.

“ The Suspect equally used same offensive weapon and injured his three other children, namely Nonso Ezimadu, 12, Chinaemerem Ezimadu,1, and Ngozi Ezimadu, 8, of same address. Police detectives visited the scene and rushed the victims to Akwudo hospital for medical attention where the two children and thr aged mother were certified dead by a medical doctor while the three other children are receiving treatment.

“Bodies of the victims have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for discreet investigation”.
