Chief Coach of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets Manu Garba has attributed his team shaky defense at the Ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup to lack of concentrations.
The Africans has conceeded four games in two matches , but their good attacking prowels saw them winning both games 4-2 and 3-2 against Hungary and Ecuador respectively.
Speaking after the team booked round of 16 tickets on Tuesday, experienced Garba salute his boys for the victory against Ecuador, before admitting they are struggling defensively despite their impressive attacking display so far in the tournament.
“I salute the doggedness of my boys today for their never say die attitude and mental strength. What a lot of people don’t know is that Equador is a very technical side who were also physically strong, so I want to praise my boys for pushing till the end. I am very proud of them.
‘As a coach, I don’t want to throw everything open here but we promise we will work more on our defensive lapses which I think it’s more of lack of concentration amongst the boys. Just be rest assured that the team will continue to improve as the tournament progresses.”.
He stressed further that the technical crew will work hard and address the problems before subsequent matches.
‘’Yes, we are meeting Australia in our last match and we are going to approach the match with a winning mentality so as to conveniently top the group. We will maintain the tempo against Australia who are also a good team.’’ Manu Garba concluded
