Many  feared dead as building collapses in Lagos

Many people were feared dead as a building collapsed at Orisha Street , Magodo Estate, Lagos.

As at press time, no one could tell how many people that died, but emergency agencies and the Police were trying to remove the rubbles, rescue those who were still alive. A resident, John Nwanna, said:

” The heavy downpour caused the collapse. I think about 20 people live in the house, but no one has come out. One of them was making distress calls through his, but the phone is dead. I think many of them may have passed. My fear is that today is Saturday , so many occupants would be relaxing at home ”

A senior police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity as he was not supposed to speak to the press , said ,

” my sister, we have been on the ground for three hours now, nobody has been rescued. I think many of them may have passed out. In fact, no one can tell how many people may have died “.
