Martins: Shanghai Shenhua Victory More Important Than My Hat-trick

By David Meshioye:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Shanghai Shenshua striker Obafemi Martins has played down the importance of his sterling performance against Hebei CFFC,  saying picking three points was much more important than his first hat-trick this season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Nigerian scored thrice as Shenshua defeated Hebei CFFC 4-2 in their Chinese Super League game on Saturday.

“I’m so happy to get the goal. I missed some chances, but I had to fight with my teammates and ended up scoring three goals.

“I feel great to have scored a hat-trick. I am happy for the team because winning the game is much more important. We did great today and I’m glad that we won,” Martins told sina.com.cn

The 33-year-old opened the scoring for Shanghai Shenshua in the 62nd minute after Hebei took the lead through Chengdong Zhang in the 48th minute.

Martins again ensured Shenshua rallied back with his second goal of the game in the 76th minute, after Ezequiel Lavezzi scored for Hebei.

Colombian attacking midfielder, Freddy Guarin put Shenshua ahead for the first time when he scored in the 82nd minute to give the home side a 3-2 lead. But Martins finally put the game to bed when he scored his third of the game in the 90th minute to complete his hat-trick.
