Barcelona star forward Lionel Messi was an unused substitute for the Argentines against the Italians who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
After a 0-0 first half, Argentina broke the deadlock in the 75th minute through Sevilla star Ever Banega.
And with five minutes to the end of the game, Manuel Lanzini doubled Argentina’s lead.
Argentina’s next friendly game is against Spain in Madrid on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles will take on Argentina in their last Group D game at the 2018 World Cup in Saint Petersburg.
