Moffi’s brace not enough to secure a point for Lorient

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi followed up his fine performance last weekend with another brace for Lorient against RC Lens on Wednesday.

The brace from Moffi however wasn’t enough as Lorient slumped to a 5-2 defeat away from home.

Moffi had opened his account for the season last Sunday with a brace against Clermont Foot, bringing his tally for the season to four goals.

Lorient went behind in the 24th minute, when Florian Sotoca riffled a shot into the back of net.

The hosts doubled their advantage four minutes, through Wesley Said, who finished off a pass from David da Costa.

Moffi brought Lorient back to the game when he reduced the deficit three minutes before half time break.

The Nigerian international combined with Dango Ouattara, who placed a perfect pass onto his path.

The duo linked up again five minutes into the second half and Moffi levelled the game with a fine finish.

Lorient however couldn’t keep their momentum and the hosts regained their lead in the 75th minute.

Salis Abdul Samed was the scorer, finishing off a ball from Jimmy Cabot.

RC Lens got their two-goal advantage back as Sotoca grabbed his second of the game in the 77th minute.

The win was sealed with the final strike from substitute Lois Openda, four minutes from time.
