Musa, Iwobi, Oshoala and co nominated for CAF Awards, Super Eagles snubbed

Super Eagles trio Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo have been named as nominees nominees for the 2018 African Player of the year CAF Awards.

The 34-man list which also has the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang vying was announced on Friday by the Confederation of African Football.

 

Nigerian interests appeared in all categories of the awards but the Men’s national team of the year as published by CAF for the Award ceremony which holds next year.

 

According to the football governing body, the winners for the African Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year will be decided by the CAF Technical & Development Committee, Media Experts, Legends.

 

Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, Coaches and Captains of the national teams of the 54 Member Associations.

 

Other categories including the Youth Player of the Year, Men’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Coach of the Year, Men’s National Team of the Year and Women’s National Team of the Year will be elected by the Body’s Technical & Development Committee.

 

Also, Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will vote.

The award ceremony will be held in Dakar, Senegal; for the first time, on January 8th, 2019.
