Nasarawa United dares Akwa United in Uyo

The Nest of Champions in Uyo will be the venue for one of Match day 17 of the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) when second place Akwa United welcomes fourth place Nasarawa United.

Nasarawa United will be heading into this clash having defeated El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri by five goals to one to move to 4th on the log.

A goal each from Isah Ndala, Anas Yusuf,  Emmanuel Ogbole and a sensational brace from Sunusi Ibrahim made sure  Sully Mohammed’s strike was nothing but just a consolatory goal as the Solid miners recorded their biggest  win in more than two seasons.

Akwa United however lost their last game at Plateau United as goals from Jesse Akila, Bernard Ovoke and Amos Gyan made sure the promise keepers returned to their base empty handed.

Both sides previously met in the first round on MD 5 at the Lafia City Stadium as Shammasu Mohammed and Daddy Morris strikes made sure Nasarawa United secured the full points against their opponents.

The game in Uyo will certainly be a different ball game as both teams want to secure maximum points to increase their chances of finishing in one of the three playoff positions on the log.

With 8 goals and 4 assists Mfon Udoh is expected to lead the charges for the Promise while the Solid Miners will have to look to leading goal scorer Sunusi Ibrahim who has recorded 7 goals and 6 assists so far in the league to spare head their attack as they look to upset their host in Uyo.

 

Akwa United are second on group B log with 28 points from 16 games while Nasarawa United are 4th with 25 points from the same number of games.
