NBBF Vice President, Babs Ogunade admits that there’s a need to tighten the quality gap between NWPBL champions First Bank and the rest of the league with programmes to boost basketball activities across different levels.
Ogunade praised the Elephant Girls for their consistency and says it could be because the owners “take basketball very very seriously and you cannot blame them for winning, if other teams are not stepping up the plate.”
Speaking with Cornerstonenewsng.comafter Wednesday’s Nigeria Women’s Premier Basketball League Final 6, the NBBF chief advocated for more games and activities across all levels in women’s basketball to raise the quality of teams and players.
He assured the Federation will introduce more developmental competitions like it has done with the Men’s divisional leagues.
The Elephant Girls retained the league crown and have dominated for the best part of 14 seasons – with 9 championships – the latest being the 88-64 points victory over Dolphins in the Final 6.
