Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi were in Matchday squad for Leicester as they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash on Saturday.
Ndidi was in the starting XI as usual for the foxes while his compatriot came on as a second-half substitute replacing England International Demarai Gray in the 73rd minute.
Palace captain’s strike and a great stop late on from debutant goalkeeper Vicente Guaita handed Roy Hodgson’s men victory in a game where neither side wanted to keep possession.
Leicester’s substitute Rachid Ghezzal came closest for the visitors but his effort screeched past Guaita’s post.
Guaita was called into action again five minutes from time. Vardy was through but saw his effort superbly palmed on to the post by the keeper and rebound into his arms.
An incredible save that ultimately won the game for Palace as Leicester looked the more likely to get the game’s second goal.
Hodgson left the field punching the air after the result that lifted his Palace side to 15th in the league, five points clear of the relegation zone.
