Ndidi shines in Leicester’s 9-0 thrashing of Southampton

Super Eagles midfield powerhouse Wilfred Ndidi was in action for 90 minutes as Leicester City thrashed 10 man Southampton 9-0 at the rainy St Mary’s Stadium on Friday night.

The performance means the Foxes has now equaled Manchester United’s 25 years record when they thumped Ipswich Town by the same scoreline.

Jamie Vardy scored four of the nine goals in the 45th, 58th and 90th minutes, while summer signing Ayoze Perez also bagged a hattrick in the 19th, 39th and 57th minutes.

Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans was on target in the 17th minute, not leaving out the English duo of James Maddison and Ben Chilwell who were also on scores sheet.

Ndidi on his part had 90 touches of the ball, won one aerial duel, made one key pass, won seven tackles, had one interception, one clearance and committed three fouls and played for 90 minutes.

The result, however, earned Ndidi and his teammates a place in Premier League record book as the only side with the biggest away win in the Premier League history.

The victory Leicester moves them to the second spot in the English Premier League table with 20 points, five adrift of leaders Liverpool.
