In recognition of Prince Ned Nwoko’s immense contributions to the development of Anioma culture, an elite female group, ivory women society, Otu Odu Anioma, has inducted his wife, Mrs. Lina Nwoko into the prestigious fold.
The colourful ceremony took place at the palatial castle of Prince Ned Nwoko, Sunday 17th February, 2019, at Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State.
The epoc-making event was graced by the traditional rulers of Ute-Okpu and Otolokpo Kingdoms, as well as some eminent political and business associates of Ned Nwoko.
Prince Ned Nwoko was earlier installed the Grand Patron of Otu Odu Anioma in honour of his passion for the good of Delta North.
The group is indigenous to Asaba under the revered Asagba of Asaba. However, for the love of Prince Ned Nwoko and his innumerable contributions to the growth of Anioma culture, he was made the Grand Patron to help advance the frontiers of the group as a pan Anioma cultural society.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the body, Enyi Adadioranma Theodora Giwa-Amu said, Nwoko’s spouse was given the honour for standing faithfully with the Anioma foremost philanthropist, noting that the essence of a successful man is a good wife.
According to Mrs. Giwa Amu “the induction has nothing to do with politics or religion; it’s just our culture. Otu Odu Anioma is about women of class and distinction; in addition to contributing to the growth of humanity and Anioma culture.
Ned Nwoko has done us proud in Anioma; we don’t have a choice but to continue to honour him. He has the biggest cultural resort not just in Anioma land, but located at his Idumuje-Ugboko ancestral home. Ned Nwoko is also a renowned patron of the Delta State Arts and Culture”, she posited.
Also speaking, the former Director of Media to Ned Nwoko Senatorial Campaign Organisation, Enyi Hon. Chinwe Monu Olarenwaju, described Ned Nwoko as an illustrious son of Anioma.
She affirmed that with Ned Nwoko as the Grand Patron of Otu Odu Anioma, women of the zone are now eligible to join, once they pass through the stringent screening, maintaining that a member must be a woman of distinction and virtue, with a capacity for humanitarian services.
In her remarks, distinguished member, Enyi Eva Nwanze, eulogized the sterling qualities of Prince Ned Nwoko.
She averred that the Star Prince is an institution of his own, stating that the group was pleased to have him as a Grand Patron culminating in the induction of his wife.
The highpoint of the glamorous event was the unveiling of Otu Odu Anioma’s latest inductee, Mrs. Lina Nwoko, after undergoing the necessary procedure.
The adorable Moroccan wife of the Anioma Prince was led into the ceremonial ground with Aguba cultural Dance.
Mrs. Lina Nwoko by the induction, is addressed forthwith as the ‘Enyi Igiligi Ututu Lina Nwoko’, meaning the Morning Dew.
