NFF Foundation to help current players, not just ex-internationals – Pinnick

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick has shed more light on the proposed NFF foundation to be set up, saying it would not be only for retired ex-internationals who go broke, but also prepare the current ones for life after football.

The proposed NFF Foundation would put an end to the issues of former Nigerian players going broke after active football while shedding more light on how the foundation intends to function.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Amaju added that they would also ensure that the educated players would be trained to become pundits like what is obtainable in England with the likes of Garry Neville and Shay Given being pundits after retirement from football.

The NFF foundation is not just to look not at the welfare of players, but to help and prepare the current players, especially life after playing as most of them go broke”.

“The foundation will look at life after playing, what can be done, the ones educated will be trained to go into punditry…I was watching a football match the other day and I saw former Newcastle Goalkeeper, Shay Given as a pundit.

“The same thing, we train the ones that are educated in the art of punditry, even the ones that are not educated, we train them and sell them internationally “.

“The ones that have problems, this foundation will look to solve them and take care of the players, their welfare, their future because like I say, without players, there is no NFF, there’s no FIFA and there is no CAF”
