NFF not planing to cut the down foreign players for Eagles matches – Rohr.

Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr, has refute claims that the Nigeria Football Federation are thinking of cutting down number of invited foreign based players to prosecute matches due to growing financial expenses.

Reports circulating in the media has it that after the Super Eagles consecutive victories over the Mediterranean knights of Libya in 2019 AFCON qualifiers in Uyo and Sfax respectively that the Nigeria Football governing body want to bring down the number of European based players in the team because of huge amounts in foreign exchange to off-set the flight tickets of the players, apart from  match allowances and bonuses.

While speaking on Supersports’s Monday Night football , the Franco-Geman tactician said the Federation has no such plan .

“I read the reports in the papers that the NFF does not want us to invite foreign based players for other AFCON qualifiers because of expenses but l called the president (Amaju Pinnick) and he did not confirm that ,hat i can say is that the door is open for professionals in the home league and Salisu is still with us on that. “.

The Russia 2018 World Cup, However laments the suspension and injury crisis rocking the team. Defenders William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo and Sheu Abdullahi are doubtful for the game against South Africa, with midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi suspended as a result of card accumulation.

“Unfortunately, ahead of the South Africa game, we have some injuries and we have to keep watching out for more. The two games in four days against Libya and the stress of travelling between Nigeria and Tunisia and back to their clubs was very difficult to some of the players which contributed to their having injuries”.

“Omeruo and Ekong couldn’t complete their games at their clubs over the weekend and they joined Shehu and Onazi, who were already injured during the Libya game. But I learnt their injuries were not so serious and they will only miss one or two matches after which they will be fit for games again.

“I have told the players that they have to be careful and focus on their fitness at this time of the year. All these little injuries can affect our plans for the game especially when we have the team going strong and doing well”.
