Nigeria seeking first World Cup victory over Argentina

Josh Okogie didn’t get the best birthday gift from his D’Tigers teammates following Nigeria’s 77-82 points defeat to Russia in their opening group B game at the FIBA World Cup, but on Monday, they can redeem that against Argentina.

Okogie contributed a game high 18 points to Nigeria’s failed bid for an opening game win in the competition – failed to do so in 1998 and 2006.

On Monday, D’Tigers will have another go at it, hoping to get their campaign back on track with a tricky test against Argentina.

The previous meetings between the two have ended in favor of the South America side.

In her debut appearance at the 1998 World Cup, Nigeria lost 51-68. And in 2006 El Alma Argentina blew away the opposition with a 34 points victory winning 98-64.
