Nigerian Players Must Step Up their Game – Peter Rufai

Former Nigeria goalkeeper Peter Rufai has urged Nigerian players to step up their game or risk being left behind in the ever competitive world of football.

Rufai expressed dissatisfaction with the back seat role Nigeria players take up in their clubs and its adverse effect on the national team.

The 1994 Afcon winner told Brila.net that likes Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and a host of African players if Nigerian players put in the work, it will also help Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr “find players who will add value”.

“We must be realistic, we have the talent but we should also put in the work. We have a base of players but they need to do more; like their African counterparts Mo Salah, Mane and co.

“These players must step up to the plate and it will afford the Super Eagles Coach the opportunity to also find players who will add value to the team.”
