Nine time African Champions Super Falcons will need to up their game if they are to make appreciable impact at this year’s World cup in France.
This is according to former Falcons ace and four time African women’s player of the year winner, Perpetua Nkwocha who made the submission in a chat with www.brila.net, while wishing the players as well as coach Thomas Dennerby good luck.
“I really wish the team all the best in France, I hope the players will do well and give their best, I also wish the coach all the best and I know he will do well”.
“Its all about the world cup in France so I pray they do much better in the world cup proper than in their friendly matches they have played, so I wish them good luck”, she concluded.
Nigeria’s programme ahead of the tournament includes participation in the Cyprus Cup and a camp in Austria, but Nkwocha, who starred as Nigeria reached the quarterfinals of the 1999 World Cup, insists that is not enough.
The African champions, the Super Falcons, who finished third in the recently concluded four nation tournament in China, also honoured the Cyprus Invitational Tournament where they were beaten 1-0 by Belgium and 1-4 by Austria, but defeated Slovakia 4-3 in Group C at the Cyprus event, conceding 8 goals in the process.
